The VEB Sachsenring's Trabant was communist East Germany's reply to the Volkswagen Beetle of West Germany.
The body was constructed with a special fibre that had wood and cotton fibres as reinforcement. It was so simple a car that it lacked even the basic brake lights and turning signals in the beginning.
Several of them were made in to campers for outdoor picnics and night stay.
