Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino or FIAT (pronounced FEE-at) traces its history to 1899 when the first car rolled out.
Since then the company has grown from strength to strength establishing factories and operations across the globe. Their diesel engines are known worldwide for their technology and fuel economy.
The FIAT brand was introduced in India by the Walchand Group in 1964 with the model FIAT 1100D. Several models were later made at the Kurla (in Mumbai) and Kalyan (near Mumbai) plants.
