In 1914, the Kwaishinsha Motor Co. produced a car, that was labelled DAT (an acronym of the investors-Kenjiro Den, Rokuro Aoyama, Meitaro Takeuchi). They produced another car in 1931 and named it DATson (son of DAT).

But because the word son means a loss in Japanese, it was replaced with sun by the holding Co. Nihon Sangyo (Nissan).

After Datsun starting making the Austin 7's there was no looking back. Today Nissan has plants in each continent.

In India, it has a factory at Oragadam, near Chennai.
