Leyland (formerly the Lancashire Steam Motor Co.) has a long history of making buses, trucks and trolleybuses.
It started in 1896 by making steam wagons, later tanks during the World War II. Some of her brand names are infamous be it the Hippo or the Comet trucks. It changed hands several times during her existence.
In India, they came in 1955 as Ashok Leyland and started making trucks in Madras. The Co. Is now part of the Hinduja Group that operates from the UK.
