The company General Motors or GM was founded by William Durant and Charles Mott in 1908 and started making horse carriages.
Over the years, they kept acquiring companies such as Buick, Cadillac, Elmore, Oakland, Oldsmobile, etc. to grow to become the largest manufacturer of cars in the world. Today GM produces vehicles in 37 countries and employ over 2 lakh people.
In India, they have 2 manufacturing units located in Halol (Gujarat) and Talegaon (Maharashtra).
