Ford 999 – 1902 Scale - 1:43

Henry Ford built this massive car whose 1155 cc engine (a massive size in those days) was mounted on a wooden frame and there was no clutch nor transmission. The number 999 was given by Henry Ford as there was a very famous steam locomotive those days that had set some record in 1893.

Given its powerful engine and devoid of any clutch, Henry Ford himself feared to ride this car and instead asked a fearless car racer called Barney Oilfield. Oilfield set many records using this 999.

But Henry Ford could not sell any as it cost US$ 5000 (today’s equivalent of 87 lakh rupees).
