de Havilland - DH.80 Puss Moth - The Hearts Content Scale -

The de Havilland Puss Moth is a 2-seater light aircraft designed for private flying. Few commercial operators used them to deliver small goods or mail. Because of her long-range capability, this model was the preferred choice for a number of wealthy owners. Fewer than 300 units were produced both in Canada and Great Britain.

The Scottish "Flying Sweethearts", or Jim and Amy Mollison, were two famous people in the 1930’s. Both had established world records before they became a married couple. Amy was not only the first British woman to get a ground engineer’s "C" licence, but also the first to travel solo from Great Britain to Australia in a journey that took almost 20 days. She was also a person who took her plane to fly from London to Moscow in about 20 hours.

This DH.80, called "The Heart’s Content," was specially prepared for Jim, who undertook a record-breaking trip from Portmarnock Strand, Ireland on August 18th, 1932, and crossed the Atlantic to reach Penfield Ridge, New Brunswick, Canada in 31 hours.
