Built on the popular Isuzu Trooper chassis, the Isuzu VehiCross that was first introduced as a concept vehicle at the 1993 Automobile Exhibition in Tokyo has a 3.5 litre, 215 hp engine SUV.
But what was most unique about this SUV was that Isuzu made use of ceramic dies for the first time. The advantage lies in the fact that ceramic dies costs about 50-70 lakhs while the conventional C.I (cast iron) dies costs about 1 crore. Any SUV body would require about 20-25 dies, so one can imagine the cost savings that Isuzu achieved through this means.
