Butagaz is a well known producer of industrial and domestic gases (LPG) in France. Somewhere in the early sixties Butagaz felt the need to advertise their gases in the face of increasing competition. So they decide to launch two different types of advertisement vehicles that will travel all over France.
They decide to approach Rotrou who were well-known coach builders and selected the Simca 1000 model for the platform. Rotrou decide to have them in 2 different platforms, one for the industrial gases with a large cylinder being placed on the platform of a Simca (for industrial gases advertising) and the other with several cylinders (domestic LPG) such as this one. What came out was a unique vehicle to advertise products.
Butagaz was created by Shell in 1932 and the firm still exists and is a household name in France. They have nearly 25,000 dealers in France with 40 lakh household customers and 2.5 lakh industrial clients.
