While Germany prepared for the war (World War II), the unified German military felt that they needed a light vehicle for maximum mobility.
Instructions were given to the largest motorcycle manufacturers BMW and Zundapp to create one with the following parameters, - the motorcycle should be able to carry a payload of minimum 500 kg. with an attached side car. - it should be able to travel about 100 km/hr. - it should have a very high ground clearance so that fenders for snow chains can be attached during harsh winters.
Zundapp designed this 750 cc engine bike that had hydraulic brakes on all the 3 wheels. Nearly 18,000 were produced for the German military.
A rare metal collectible for a motorcycle collector.
