Introduced in the year 1946, it is rumoured that this model was developed by way of ‘reverse engineering’ (also known as ‘back engineering’, it is a process where an object is deconstructed to reveal its designs, components and parts so as to build a duplicate). Here the car model was the 1942 American made Packard Eight.
Powered by a powerful 6 litre engine, the ZIS 110 was often given as gifts to heads of foreign states. Notable personalities include Chinese Communist Party chief Mao Zedong, Albanian President Enver Hoxha and Vietnamese Father of Nation Ho Chi Minh. Stalin used these cars regularly to commute to his office.
After 2000 plus cars were produced, the curtain fell in the year 1958.
