Willeme was already known in the 50s and 60s to make the heaviest trucks. They worked very closely with Deutz for their engines but however the high costs of these heavy-duty vehicles deterred clients to buy more and by 1970 the firm went bankrupt before another French firm called PRP purchased it.
One well-known model was their W8 DAE 6x6 model that was made by SIDES, the fire fighting equipment firm from France and was used by the Orly airport in Paris as airport fire tender.
