The person who led the project to build this Volkswagen car was Heinrich Nordhoff who led Volkwagen’s revival after the war. Retaining the hallmark of a typical Volkswagen, i.e., the rear-mounted air-cooled engine, this car designed by firm Carrozzeria Pininfarina had so much trunk space that even a second trunk space could be created after having a flat floor thanks to the folding rear seat.
This 1.7-litre car with a total of 400 litres of trunk space first debuted at the 1968 Paris Auto Show as VW 411 LE and was produced until 1972. This car model was also produced in South Africa.
