
The Tupolev Tu-154 is a medium-range, narrow-body aircraft that was built for the first time in 1968. This plane was designed with the purpose of transporting passengers as well as cargo to airfields located in extreme Arctic conditions. It was also built to operate and land on gravel or any paved surface.
With a maximum range of 5,300 km, this trijet plane with three rear-mounted turbofan engines can travel at a maximum speed of 850 km/hr and has a long duty cycle.
There are several variants of the Tu-154 produced. These include the Tu-154, Tu-154A, Tu-154B, Tu-154B-1, Tu-154B-2, Tu-154M, Tu-154S, and the Tu-155, built until 2013. Over 1000 units were produced.
