Developed by Toyota's Chief Engineer and world ambassador Kenya Nakamura and introduced in the year 1955, the Toyota Toyopet Crown was tailored to cater to the mass market. It was also the first passenger vehicle by Toyota and also the first Japanese car to be exported to USA.
It had a 1.5 litre Type R engine and gave a 14 kilometre to a litre of petrol. For greater comfort and protection of the rider, the body was made heavy and rugged that weighed 1.15 ton. Care was also taken to balance the aerodynamics, quality and style.
