A Bandeirante is a Portuguese settler from the 17th century in Brazil. They were known so as they led expeditions with their flags (the word 'bandeiras' is flag in Portuguese) from Sao Paolo (present city) to the southern and western regions in search of gold, silver and other trading items.
The Toyota Bandeirante is a 4WD that were from the J4 series of the Land Cruiser line. These were assembled in Brazil and because of its robustness they were favoured pick-ups and SUV for a long time. They were made from the year 1962 until as late as 2001 and as many as over 1 lakh were produced.
