Nicknamed as “Moose” (because of its moose-type front grille), the Land Cruiser FJ 55 was developed as a commercial carrier in Japan, while the same was marketed as an SUV abroad. Launched in 1967, the FJ55 replaced the earlier-made FJ45 and was Toyota’s first full-blood SUV.
With customers having the option to choose two types of engine, i.e., 3.9-litre and 4.2-litre, this SUV came with either a 3-speed or 4-speed manual transmission. It also offered the customer to buy a 7-seater SUV with additional rear seats and a retractable window at the rear tailgate.
