Massachusetts based car firm Stanley Motor carriage Company introduced the Model 62 in the year 1911. With a 2-cylinder double acting locomotive type engine, it took over 15 steps to start the car engine. Another 30 minutes of waiting to build up steam-pressure allowed the car to travel up to 60 km.
The 100 litre water tank under the seat helped the boiler under the hood to generate steam. This car cost about US$ 1000 (today ’s equivalent of Rs. 70 lakh) or salary of 2 months of a commoner in USA.
For several decades the small principality of Liechtenstein (near Germany) is known for its stamps. Its philatelic division also sells scale model cars of few models. All these are rendition in 1:43 scale.
