Developed by Skoda, the bus model 706 RO was initially made at the Skoda plant at Mladá Boleslav but as this model’s popularity grew, (they were exported in large numbers) production was then shifted to another automobile factory called AVIA (for a brief time, this firm belonged to Hinduja’s Ashok Leyland).
The 706 RO (RO meant Rekonstruovaný Omnibus or Reconstructed Bus as it was derived from a truck model 706 R) was produced for eleven years beginning 1947. These buses were sold in large numbers to countries as far as Bolivia (South America), communist East Germany and China, Turkey and Syria.
This metal scale model is an exact rendition of the bus model that was sold to China in large numbers.
