Scania LBT 141 Scale - 1:43

The Scania-Vabis partnership gave several successes with their 8-litre and 11-litre engines. But somewhere down the line, Scania felt the need to have a more powerful truck that could move heavier haulage. They wanted to break the ceiling of a 250 HP truck and bring out something revolutionary in the truck world and so work began in 1962.

They also kept in mind few important parameters,
- a truck that would have surplus output throughout its engine speed range
- a truck that has good traction at very low speeds
- a truck that has few gear changes

After development work that took nearly seven years, the Scania LBT range was unveiled during the 1969 Frankfurt Motor Show. The resulting product was a very powerful truck that had a 14.2 litre V8 engine giving an output of 375 HP. This was a gigantic leap of over 100 HP from the earlier made 250 HP engines. Customers also liked the V8 emblem present on the front grille.

This model earned the nickname – King of the Road.
