The Showtrac truck model was developed by Great Britain-based Scammell to pull heavy loads during World War I. Only 18 units were built, and after the war, some circus companies purchased them. 

Some circus companies also fitted them with "dodgem" trailers that consisted of a steel plate that was fixed to several wooden planks on the floor.
