For over 15 years, SAVIEM (later incorporated in to Renault Trucks) collaborated with MAN, Germany.
As part of their understanding, Saviem would make the cab body while MAN will supply it with engines and axles. This understanding led to the development of the 19.280 model in 1978, that turned out to be one of their most successful trucks of all time.
Having the most powerful engine of its times, this model was a runaway success in mines, construction sites and other heavy metal works.
