
France people’s car, the 2CV that was produced by Renault had several flaws that design engineers corrected in the development of Renault R4 which was a hatchback car.
Also known as Quatrelle the R4 was introduced to the public in 1961 with a 750 cc engine. So popular was this car that Renault produced 10 lakh cars in just 4 years and continued producing them until 1994.
Entering the Formula racing in 1977, the Renault Sport Formula One Team also entered a R4 in one of the races. This model car is a depiction of the same. The service vehicle to serve the team as well as carry the spare parts was also a R4.
