During the time, when the French were the colonial masters, the automobiles used in Vietnam were quintessentially French, be it a Citroen, Renault or a Simca.
Until 1975, when Vietnam was struggling to survive, the easiest form of transportation were these buses that carried up to 75 passengers, filled till the brim. Whether the city was Bien Hoa, Can Tho, Hai Phong, Ha Noi or Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh), the primary choice was the Renault made Galion as mini-buses.
