The founder of ALPINE (the sports division of Renault) was Jean Rédélé, who was a racing driver, automotive designer, and a manufacturer. He converted the simple Renault 4CV into a specially designed race car and named it Speciale.
Constructed in Italy and designed by the world famous Giovanni Michelotti (who designed several Ferrari, Maserati, Standard Triumph, and BMW cars) in the year 1955, this car was built by coachbuilding specialist Allemano and carried a 750cc engine, and a 5-speed gearbox. The model was draped in aluminium sheets that made the car weigh just 550 kg.
At the 1955 event of Rally Lyon-Charbonnieres, drivers Claude Galtior and Jacques Parizot drove this car #3 to take the third spot. This scale model is a rendition of the same winning car.
