Reliant Motors is a UK-based manufacturer that produced vehicles from 1935 until 2002. A few of their models were also produced in the 1980’s in India by Sipani Automobiles, Bangalore (Bengaluru).
The Reliant Scmitar when it first began its production in 1964 was based on a prototype of the Daimler SP250 using the chassis of a Reliant Sabre. Under the bonnet was a Ford made 2.6-litres engine of the Ford Zephyr (provide product link page) and a fibre-glass draped body. This car model was made more famous by Princess Anne (sister of Queen Elizabeth) who owned eight of them.
Produced as coupe (GT), sports estate (GTE), the convertible variant (GTC) having a 2.8-litres Ford Cologne V6 engine was launched in 1980. Nearly 450 of the GTC variant was produced until 1986.
