RAF 2203 – Latvia Ambulance Scale - 1:43

Widely used as taxis in erstwhile Soviet Union, these vans were also used by the Police in current day Latvia (part of former Soviet Union). Made by Rīgas Autobusu Fabrika (RAF), these vans known as 2203 made use of 2.4 litre, 4-cylinder ZMZ engine and nicknamed Rafik.

It was in the late 1980s that due to some emergency about 200 of these vans that were converted in to ambulances by a Finnish firm called TAMRO were dispatched to Prague, Czechoslovakia for their local emergency services.

About five of them were retained in Riga (Latvian capital city) to be used locally. These ambulances were without any side glasses. This metal scale model is an exact replica of the same ambulance.
