
Designed by Norbert Singer, this newly developed model the Porsche 936 was built to meet the FIA regulations of Gr. 6. This car also won several races in parallel with the Porsche 935. Built first in 1976, the Porsche 936/78 continued to be used in motor sports racing until 1981.
This 4900 mm long car had a modified body with an elongated stem that tapered towards the rear end. On both the fins at the rear sat the rear wing that was adjustable.
On 11th June, 1978, at the Le Mans event held at the Circuit de la Sarthe, this car # 6 sponsored by Martini Racing Porsche System and driven by Jacky Ickx, Bob Wollek and Jürgen Barth after doing 365 laps covering nearly 5000 kms. at an average speed of 207 km/hr, came as a winner in the 2nd position.
