
First launched in 1960 with a 72 HP engine having Solex carburettor, the Peugeot 404 is actually the work of Italian design house Pininfarina. Right from the beginning, the model was rolled out in different variants – sedan, station wagon and pick-up.
Produced in several countries across Europe, Africa and Latin America, the Peugeot 404 was one more car from the house of Peugeot that was a runaway success. For 15 years right until its last model that rolled out from their Kenya plant, nearly 45 lakh cars were produced.
They were very popular as Taxis in many countries including France, because of her spacious interior and low maintenance costs. This model was also used as taxis in Buenos Aires, capital city of Argentina.
