When this Spanish model first rolled out in 1951, it was the fastest production car in the world having top speed of nearly 250 km/hr and beating Jaguar’s XK120.
The idea behind this car was Pegaso’s Chief Technical Manager, Wifredo Ricart who earlier worked for Alfa Romeo. Pegaso who were known for making some of the best trucks and buses in Spain soon began to attract global attention after this car model rolled out.
When introduced, this model had a 2.5 litre engine that subsequently got upgraded to 2.8 litre and further to a 3.2 litre engine. The body panel built by Italian coachbuilders Carrozzeria Touring was constructed out of an alloy that happened to be more heavier than the conventional sheet metal. But since the cost of producing this car was high, less than 75 cars were built in seven years.
