The Suzuki Wagon R was rebadged as OPEL Agila when these were first exported to Europe from Japan. They were made later at the Opel plant in Poland.
Suzuki ‘s Wagon R is a kei (small) car that rolled out first in 1993. Being of ‘tall boy’ design that utilizes maximum space with a higher roof, it gives a feeling of being inside a wagon and so the name 'Wagon' stuck to it. The 'R' in the name stands for recreation.
With time, this model became so popular that they got badged under different names such as Mazda Flair, Mitsubishi Delica, Suzuki Solio, Suzuki Karimum, etc.
In India, this model is being produced as Maruti Suzuki Wagon R since 1999 and is one of the most successful models in Indian automotive history.
