Mitsubishi’s Pajero is one of the well-known SUV’s of all time. First introduced in 1973 its origin goes back to 1934 when the firm made one prototype for the Imperial government with the name PX33. Much later in January 1983, the Pajero debuted for the first time in the gruelling Paris-Dakar rally. Two years later it won the first Championship. In the next few years, it won the Dakar Rally 12 times setting an all-time record taking the Pajero as a brand to be feared.
The Pajero goes by the name Shogun and Montero in Spanish speaking countries since the word ‘pajero’ infers as a person who masturbates.
In India, the 2nd generation Pajero was also produced by Hindustan Motors until 2012 as Pajero SFX.
