The Austin Mini was already a famous car when the Chairman of the Company, Sir Alec Issigonis, decided to make a pick-up version of the car by extending the length of the chassis by twenty-five centimetres. Fitted with an 850cc engine, this model, as it became popular, was given a 1.0-litre engine.
The Mini "Marcos" was produced by Marcos Engineering, a small British manufacturer of sports cars between 1965 and 1970. The Marcos was a model made entirely of fibreglass with a wheelbase of 2000 mm. This model also entered racing and did a few cups. Licensed versions of this model were also produced in Australia, Ireland, and South Africa.
Garage de la Choletterie is a small firm in France that is based in Veigne, France. They are master specialists in restoring old English cars, including Caterham and Peerless cars. This scale model is a rendition of the same Mini Pick-up model that was used to transport the Marcos that was later built and used for the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hour race.
* models produced by Marcos Engineering are the Mantis, Mantaray, Marcasite, Mantula, Martina, etc..
