The NG class of trucks from Mercedes-Benz were revamped in 1989 and was denoted Schwere Klasse (SK) which meant “heavy class” in German. Production of this class continued until 1998.
With the launch of the SK series in 1988, Mercedes-Benz became the market leader. The SK 1948 model was equipped with a 480 hp V8 diesel engine and a gross weight of 38 tonnes. The German manufacturer offered a spacious and comfortable cabin. Called Space, it was ideal for drivers who made long journeys.
The front cabin of the TATA 1516 and 2416 model (a 15 ton and a 24 ton model) has a very close resemblance to this model of Mercedes.
