Originating in Holland (Netherlands) the ‘Huwelijksboot’ (its literal meaning is a wedding boat, in Dutch) were first made there in the early 50s. Van Rooijen who are Holland’s biggest coach builders took three Mercedes-Benz OP 312 chassis and built one of the most iconic boat-buses.
Giving it a powerful 120 hp engine, these buses were given the same look as a boat with centrally arranged hatches, two funnels mounted on roof-top, two sideways mounted foghorns, etc. To give it a more authentic boat type look two sets of tyres were placed on the bus sides. These buses could seat 32 passengers and tourists mainly used them.
