It was in 1973 that Mercedes-Benz introduced a new generation of trucks that simply named NG (for New Generation). The number following the alphabets designated the payload capacity and the engine type of the truck. For example a 1632 meant that it had a payload capacity of 16 tons and 320 HP engine.
Produced between 1973-1988, Mercedes also installed them with ABS in later models. Later a model with a turbo charger having a V8 engine that gave 330 HP. As this model’s popularity soared Mercedes also came up with a V10 turbocharged engine that gave up to 375 HP.
