In the 1997 sci-fiction movie of Steven Spielberg ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park’ the InGen gatherers used these modified vehicles in their expedition to the island to Isla Soma. The task of the team was to study the dinosaurs closely with cameras and other measuring instruments.
The three Mercedes-Benz ML320 SUV's used in the movie were heavily modified and named AAV Santana, AAV Fontana and AAV Montana. Each vehicle was covered in camouflage paint, front bull bars, tow cable, winch, rear tail light guards, custom step bars and fog lights.
One of the SUV's can also be seen at the Mercedes-Benz Museum at Stuttgart.
