Truck racing began in USA in Atlanta in 1979 and this got featured even in a movie - Smokey and the Bandit II. Mercedes-Benz had been participating in truck racing for a very long time. The last race for the final generation of Mercedes-Benz trucks took place in 1998.
Powered by a powerful 11.5 litre V6 engine and with twin turbochargers, this 1800 hp Mercedes-Benz Atego (this truck can travel upto 160 km/hr) won the European Truck Racing Cup in 1998.
Driven by Ludovic Faure, this truck was sponsored by a German team called Tiger Racing Dehnhardt.
