Mercedes Benz 600 SWB – W100 Scale - 1:18

Successor to the earlier flagship model called “Adenauer” or Type 300D, this grand Mercedes car was the ultimate that Mercedes had to offer. This car that was designed by Paul Bracq, Bruno Saco and Friedrich Geiger offered the customer the alternative to the expensive Bentley and Rolls-Royce. But many of the features this car model incorporated were far advanced.

With a 6.3 litres V8 engine under the bonnet, this model had an advanced hydraulic system that enabled to have power windows, sliding sun-roof, automatic door closing, boot lid, etc. A pneumatic self-levelling suspension meant that it allowed the occupant to have a very smooth ride.

Preferred by country’s heads of states, royalty and the rich, the Mercedes-Benz 600 came in three variants – chauffeur driven LWB (Long Wheel base), owner driven SWB (Shorter Wheel Base) and open Landaulets. Of these, most of the cars made were the SWB version with over 2000 cars built.
