Considered to be the Maybach of her days, the Mercedes-Benz 300D was fairly a large car that was bought by several rich people. Governments bought them for their Presidents and Prime Ministers.
Produced between 1957-1962, this 4-door luxury car was superior in performance to Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. In terms of luxury, it offered a partition to separate the occupant from the chauffeur, VHF mobile phone, dictation machine, etc.
The car built by the Mercedes-Benz company for the Papal had a Landaulet (go to Glossary section of KNOW MORE) body and its chassis was stretched. The roof could be electrically operated by the driver and there was a special seat at the rear that was raised little high so that Pope Giovanni XXIII (Angelo Giuseppe Roncalliin) can be seen by the public easily. The car was painted black and had the Papal’s emblem. Footboards were provided on both sides for the Pope to climb and descend easily.
This car is the exact rendition of Pope Giovanni’s original car. This product is MADE IN ITALY.
