The Mercedes-Benz 220 or W115 was a 4-cylinder engine model that was produced during the years 1968-1976.
Since it was the 8th year of 1960 and Mercedes was starting their New Generation of vehicles this model was called "/8" that was later modified to "strich acht" (in German) which mean 'dash eight'.
Designed by legendary Paul Bracq, the W115 rolled out in several variants such as saloon car, coupe, pick-up and even an 8-seater Pullman limousine (popular among hotels, to shuttle tourists from airports).
By the time, production ended in 1976, this model that was also produced in Argentina (pick-up), Venezuela, Portugal and South Africa had over 1.9 crore vehicles on the road.
