Mercedes Benz 190E EVO II – Schumacher Scale - 1:43

While BMW did well in the DTM series with their newly developed M3, Mercedes-Benz felt quite left out in the DTM racing (German Touring Championships). And so they partnered with famed British engine firm Cosworth to develop a more powerful engine.

Cosworth used the M104 2.3 litre engine and modified the engine to give a displacement of 2.5 litre. By giving the car larger brakes, wider front and rear tracks and a different body, the Evo I was evolved.

Further enhancements were made by providing front splitter (found on the front as an extension to the bumper and used for aerodynamics to balance and control the downforce generated). This new car was the Evo II.

The Evo II was driven by Michael Schumacher in 1991 at the DTM Championship.
