This F1 car, essentially the Mclaren M16 was designed by John Barnard and Gordon Coppuck for the McLaren team by using a V8 Ford Cosworth DFV (Double Four Valve) engine that helped the engine to have an output of 490 hp. The new car was named M23.
During its first race in 1973, this car took a pole position. British born James Hunt drove this car in 1976 winning the F1 world championships.
