Designed by Steve Nichols, an automotive engineer (who later became the design head for McLaren), the MP4/4 became one of the most popular F1 cars in the world of automotive racing winning fifteen out of the sixteen races it participated in with Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost.
Powered by a Honda RA168E 1.5-litre V6-turbo engine, this model evolved from the earlier made MP4/3 a year earlier.
At the 1988 Silverstone Circuit of the British GP held on 10th July, 1988, Brazilian Ayrton Senna, driving this car # 12 , came first after doing 65 laps.
