Created by legendary designer Gordon Murray, the McLaren F1 GTR is the racing version of their first produced sports car. This car is powered by a naturally aspirated* BMW S70/2 V12 engine.
In the year 1998 two McLaren F1 GTR’s entered racing. One was driven by the former British rock band Pink Floyd manager Steve O’Rourke at the 24 hour racing event Le Mans. On 6th June, 1998 O’Rourke after driving 351 laps took the 4th place. This detailed diecast model is the same car he drove.
* a naturally aspirated engine, sometimes known as a normally aspirated engine, is an internal combustion engine in which oxygen intake depends solely on atmospheric pressure and does not rely on forced induction through a turbocharger or a supercharger.
