The Mahindra M5 Electro that was first unveiled in 2018 is based on the Spark SRT05E Gen2 model. Developed by France’s SRT and Italian Dallara, this Formula E car is powered by a 54 kWh McLaren developed battery that has a maximum power output of 250 kilowatt (335 bhp). This car has Brembo made brakes and fitted with special Michelin made tyres.
The car was further modified with design inputs from Pininfarina (now, a Mahindra Co.) and technological inputs from TechMahindra (the software arm of the Mahindra Group). This modified car would easily do 0-100 km/hr in just 2.8 seconds.
For the 2018 season, Mahindra began with Swedish driver Felix Rosenqvist and Belgian driver Jerome d’Ambrosio who took over after Rosenqvist left to join the IndyCar series.
The same car along with d’Ambrosio was seen in Mumbai in 2018 at the Four Seasons Hotel where the function was conducted by former Miss India Gul Panag.
