Developed and designed at the Belarus based Minsk Automobile Plant, the MAZ 6422 was developed as a prototype first in 1977. Then about 10 trucks were made and tested all across the Soviet Union in rugged terrains. Once the initial trial runs were successful, the first batch of trucks for commercial run rolled out in 1978.
With a 14.9 litres diesel YaMZ engine, these tractor units were primarily designed to carry heavy haulage across cities and also cross international borders. They were so successful that production was taken up in the city of Ganja in Azerbaijan where they still continue to be produced.
This metal scale model comes with the containers (as shown in the image).
