The Lotus 79 was designed by the legendary Colin Chapman and his fellow designers-Geoff Aldridge, Martin Ogilvie, Tony Rudd, and Peter Wright. It had a Ford Cosworth DFV (Double 4-valve) engine and a body that was constructed out of an aluminium sheet in a honeycomb structure to combat the pressure of ground forces when the car ran at full speed.
At the Belgian Grand Prix held on May 21st, 1978 at the Zolder circuit, American driver Mario Andretti, driving this black colour #5, Lotus 79, came in the 1st position after doing 70 laps.
