Marcel Leyat was an engineer in France who designed and flew his self built aeroplane in 1909. He also believed that propeller driven vehicles were the future and so went out to create his first propeller driven automobile in 1913 - Helica.
He tested them for 5 years before starting full fledged production from 1919. Marcel Leyat believed that given the proper shape, his car will have lesser air-drag, consume lesser fuel and will help the future. He displayed his creation in the 1921 Paris Auto Show and there was a lot curiosity generated. With limited funds, he built models with different shaped cabins. He however could not sustain and so built 25 cars before winding up in 1926.
This scale model is unique and is in the rarest-of-rare class.
