Charles Spencer King conceived the Range Rover, which became one of the best examples of success stories in British automobile history. The first generation Range Rover that came out in 1970 was fitted with 2-doors (the 2-doors were phased out in 1994) and it was much later, in 1981, that the company started making ones with 4-doors.
This Land Rover made premium SUV also had the capacity to tow up to 3.5 tons, seat up to 5 adults comfortably, and run at 160 km/hr. With hydraulic brakes on all four wheels, power steering, leather seats, and powerful air-conditioning, occupants felt both safe and comfortable inside this SUV. The 3.5-litre engine was upgraded in later years to accommodate larger 3.9 and 4.2-litre displacements.
